Introducing the Fellowship Programme
1. Introduction
Fellowship for those with advanced standing (pre-1992
Associates)
As with any qualification system
it is important to recognise relevant prior achievement. Special provision has
been made in developing the new Fellowship scheme to give credit where this is
due.
Other qualifications
The basis of election to Fellowship is the presentation of a
portfolio of evidence of your abilities, achievements and experience. The
starting point is an agreed examination level and the post-1992, 10 subject
Associateship scheme provides this benchmark. For pre-1992 Associates a 'top-up'
is necessary.
The CII recognises that some people in this situation may
have already completed or decided to gain further qualifications, other than the
CII's, which match the direction of their career more closely. As long as these
qualifications are relevant to the work done in the context of insurance
operations, credit can be given. You can take credit for recognised qualifications either to offset the
top-up requirement or as a major achievement in your portfolio.
You can also
continue to use additional subjects from the current ACII menu to top-up your
Associateship.
CPD activity
One of the
requirements before you can apply for election to Fellowship is completion of
three years' continuing professional development (CPD). If you have recorded CPD
activities under the CII's Chartered title holder scheme, this will be accepted
towards your Fellowship commitment. If you have recorded CPD activities under
another CPD scheme, you may be able to use these records towards your Fellowship
commitment. This can be confirmed by mailing to Fellowship
Advice at societies.fas@cii.co.uk .
Please contact the Fellowship Advisory
Service at societies.fas@cii.co.uk to find out whether you have been given a dispensation
from completing CPD records under the CII CPD scheme. You will be required to
submit evidence of three years' CPD to be able to progress towards Fellowship.
