National Insurance Academy, Pune

The Life Insurance Corporation of India and the General Insurance Corporation of India along with its subsidiary insurance companies jointly sponsor the National Insurance Academy. It was established in 1980-81 primarily as a training institute for the senior executives of the insurance industry. However, over the years the Academy's activities proliferated and now cover the following areas:

• Training

• Trainer's Training

• Consultancy and

• Publications

The intention is to maintain a constant and symbiotic relationship with international markets cutting across national boundaries

Objectives of the Academy are:

• To promote and conduct research on problems of insurance management, training and development of insurance personnel, etc.

• To promote and provide facilities for education and training in operation and management of insurance business.

• To provide consultancy and other advisory services to insurance industry in matters requiring improvement and economic betterment.

• To promote and undertake faculty development programs to ensure an adequate supply of competent trainers to the training establishments of insurance companies.

• To disseminate information on management know-how for furtherance of its other objectives

The Academy has been organising these activities for the last 18 years and through these activities has gained considerable insight into the operations, practices and problems of the insurance industry in India and abroad

The Academy normally organises training programs for middle and senior level executives of the insurance industry in the following broad areas:

• Technical aspects of Insurance

• Programmes for Top Management

• General Management, Education and training

• Marketing and Public Relations

• Financial Management and Financial Services

• Human Resources Management

• Computers and Information Technology
