Tuition Facilities
Tuition Facilities:
Effective Tuition service is considered essential to prepare candidates for the Institute's examination at all levels. With this objective in view, the following schemes or Tuition Service on voluntary basis are made available to the candidates who wish to appear for the Institute's examinations.
Oral Tuition Service
This tuition is arranged by the local Associated Institutes, after office hours, with the active involvement of experienced tutors. Duration of the course is three months commencing from 15th June to 15th September for October examinations and from 15th December to 15th March for April examinations.
At the end of the course, the tutors shall conduct a test under examination condition and certify that (I) the candidate has complied with 75% of attendance during the period, and (ii) he shall submit the performance sheet of the test to the concerned Institute.
Postal Tuition Service
Fees:Rs.150/- per subject for Licentiate, Rs.200/- per subject for Associateship and Rs.250/- per subject for Fellowship.
Registration:
Candidates may register either for OTS or PTS by 1st May for October examinations and by 1st November for April examinations. These dates are tentative and subject to change.
Duration of the courses:
Three months commencing from 15th June to 15th September for October examinations and from 15th December to 15the March for April examinations.
Tuition Material :
The scheme operates on the principle that the tutor will give personal attention and advice to the candidates in order to enable him to prepare for the examination.
Hence, only detailed guidelines with test questions will be supplied to candidates. No guideline answers will be provided.
Answering lesson-wise Tests:
For each lesson, guidelines and the test questions are provided. These are usually sent in a set of five lessons, in order to give flexibility to the candidate to complete the work within the prescribed time limit. Candidates are required to use quart-size paper in writing the answer. They should send the written answers by Book-Post under special concession "Pupils Exercise for Correction" vide P.O. guide clause 114 (8). They are also required to send a self addressed envelope of the size 9" X 4" to the appointed tutor to return the answers duly corrected by him.
Test:
The tutor will conduct two tests during the entire course for Postal Tuition Service under strict examination conditions. Based on the performance of the candidate in the final test (50% marks subject to answering 75% of test lessons, the tutor will mark the performance of the candidate in the final test. However, no certificate will be issued.
There is not bar for the repeaters to avail of the facilities of either OTS or PTS as the schemes operate on voluntary basis.
Contact by the Candidates:
Postal Tuition Service, being a distant learning Scheme, it is decentralized, generally Institute-wise, throughout the country. The candidates will be required to be in touch with the appointed tutors throughout the period of the course.
Candidates stationed outside the Institute Headquarters and who are unable to opt for OTS are advised to send their enrollment form direct to the Institute at local Institutes 'Headquarters may send the enrollment form through them.
Membership of Local Institute:
Candidates are required to become members of local Institutes as a pre-condition to opt for either Oral or Postal Tuition Service.
Enrollment Form:
Enrollment form/s are available with the local Institutes for this service. However, if any candidate is not able to get an enrollment form, he may submit his request for enrollment to the Tuition Service on a plain paper along with the requisite fees.
Rules:
Postal Tuition Service
Candidates will be supplied with guidelines and test questions directly. They should submit written answers to each test lesson regularly and promptly to the appointed tutor. While submitting the answers for each test lesson, candidates should send a self addressed envelope (size 9" X 4") for returning the corrected answers. Answers should be written on quart-size paper and in blue/black ink, leaving sufficient margin for the tutor's comment to be noted.
Test lessons should be answered in the candidate's own handwriting under strict examination conditions. They should be standard answers, In case, the answers are considered below the standard by the tutor, the candidates may be asked to rewrite and submit the answers again.
Corrected answers will be returned by the tutor with suggestions and observations for improving the performance.
The candidates must possess a study course and a booklet on Study Techniques in Insurance. These are available with the local Institutes.
Any doubts or enquiries should be referred to the tutor.
The Insurance Institute of India is not responsible for postal delays. The answer papers submitted by the candidates will be posted normally within seven days from the date of receipt.
No refund or adjustment of fee will be permitted for any unsubmitted lesson.
The candidate should not lend, sell, reproduce or allow others to use the material supplied to him in any manner, whatsoever. This is strictly for personal use and is not transferable. The entire Tuition Service is the copyright of the Insurance Institute of India.
The Institute reserves the right to amend the rules or to discontinue the service to any candidate at any time without assigning any reason.
